Food Dogs Should Not Eat

The holidays are coming around and for most of us that means that our house will be full of food! That is why everyone gains weight during the holidays. But it also means that our house will be full of toxic food for dog! Below is a list of foods in general that dogs cannot eat. I will also be uploading a video soon to my youtube channel for more pet safety during the holidays.

Alcohol is should never be given to a dog. This can cause vomiting, loss of coordination and if too much is ingested it can lead to seizures, coma and death.

Avocados are toxic to most pets. Dogs should never eat avocados as the skin, leaves, seeds and bark can be toxic to them. Ingesting the pit of the avocado will cause obstruction of the digestive track and the dog should be taken to the vet immediately.

Chocolate is poisonous to dogs and could cause vomiting, irregular heart rhythm, high blood pressure, seizures and death.

Garlic can cause a dog’s kidney and liver damage.

Mushrooms can be very toxic to a dog’s organs because of the toxicity.

Onions can damage a dog’s red blood cells.

Raw Dough for bread or cookies can be harmful to dogs and could cause vomiting and problems breathing.

Xylitol found in sugar free products is very harmful to dogs and can cause liver failure.

Keep your pets safe this holiday season and don’t be tempted to “share” with them. If you aren’t sure if the food is safe for dogs, then don’t feed it. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

What kind of raw food should I give my dog? I don't have one yet but when I get one I'd like to be prepared.

You can view my consultation services under the services tab. I either teach you how to maintain a balanced diet feeding raw or prepare a meal plan for you.

Do you have any kind of recipe for dog food? It's my first time getting a dog, and I'll be having a little puppy.
